3803 video up conversion question (1 Viewer)

I have my game cube and my direct tv hooked up to the 3803 and output through componet video and s video. I tride both of these though componet and it seems to distort the picture somewhat. It really makes your eyes tired and then I switch to s video and its not as bad but still there. I am wondering do I need better cables or with games and graphics like the game cube has and direct tv has for the menu that are not ment to be componet video is this what I am stuck with. I know that you can get componet video cables for the g cube. I have jet to try to just switch these through composite like they are ment to be in there present state. I should say that when the direct tv is watching actual tv and not the on screen display menu the picture is a lot better. If some could point me in the general direction I would appreciate it.
