I have been looking hard for a receiver for the past couple of weeks and I have it narrowed down to these last two. What I am thinking about is the $150 dollar difference between the two. At first I looked at the 2802 then the dreaded thoughts came into my mind...well it is only 150 more for the 3802... Is it really worth it? The only real difference I can find is a powered second zone and 7.1 pre-in's. Does it justify me throwing down $150 more? Thanks for all the help...soon it will be all over and I just want to make the right decesion.

    Chris:

you should checkout the Denon avr1082 $689.99. It is said to be the same as the 3802 but cheaper.

A friend of mine first bought the 2802 but then returned it and got a 3801 after hearing mine.

    Good luck

IIRC, the 2802 has 6 AMPs (one SB speaker), whereas the 3802 has 7 AMPs (two SB speakers).
