Are the channel level and delay settings in effect with the external decoder inputs? The reason I ask is because I usually listen to music with the analog outputs of my 3800 player. I have the same channel level and delay settings on the 3800, but I wonder if I am doubling the effect of these settings by having them on both units.

The 5.1 inputs bypass all of the other settings, try turning the balance knob to confirm. Level adjustments etc, should be done at the source.
