Hey Guy's. Need some help here. I want the best video possible at a $1k - $1200 price point. The 12.02 build date 3800 seems to be a winner. The 2900 seems worth the wait as well. What are the compromises on the 2900 to reach a 1K price? Does anyone have an idea what will be missing, if anything, from the 2900 so that it can playback DVD-A and SACD? Will there be a 3900 or a 9100? If so, what is the estimated arrival date? I have the problem plagued 2800 (should I trust Denon after that fiasco?) and the 1600 now.

Thomas, from what I have read the '2900 will not have the build quality of '3800. That doesn't mean it will be bad, though. We will have to see. I read awhile back that Denon would be releasing an upper-scale universal player, but I don't know what the retail price might be and how good it will be. The '3800 is becoming scarce, so my guess is that the '2900 will replace it. It wouldn't surprise if the upper-scale universal player replaces the '9000. That just a guess on my part.

I just got a '3800 with a September 2002 build date. From what I have been told, my unit has the chroma bug update, but the older laser assembly. Seeing as I didn't buy it for movies, that doesn't really matter. I am very pleased with the build and sound quality of this unit. If movies are important to you and you can get a December 2002 unit, grab one.
