Café Society Blu-ray Review

Woody Allen’s Café Society, another of his bittersweet ruminations on romantic roads not taken, echoes with memories of triumphs past, particularly Annie Hall and Manhattan, two films with similar love triangle scenarios.

Thanks, Matt.

Your thoughts on the film echo mine. It was an entertaining and interesting experience with excellent cinematography and design. However I don't see myself revisiting it very often.

Woody Allen has an extraordinary history. An average of one film every year. How Can there NOT be some bad ones? I wish I had as many hits versus misses in my writing career.

I believe this is Allen's first film to be shot digitally. I remember way back when he was adamantly against Dolby Stereo at its inception, so he has historically been slow to consider new technology. I was surprised to read in the review of this film that there was actually some use of the surround channels.

I'd give this film a B+. Not a clunker, but no where near the magic of MIDNIGHT IN PARIS.
