3 months with DPL2: An Audio Skeptic's view

    I frequently malign DTS heads because I really don't hear anything but a volume increase on 99% of non-cooked mixes. And when I first got DPL-2 back in August, I again cried "gimmick"

    In this case however, I actually hear a difference between DPL and DPL2

    I play a LOT of Japanese PCM music discs. The music no longer surrounds, but instruments are actually seperated like in a real 5.1 mix. Unlike with DPL, you don't see bleed from the L&R into the surround, it's 95% of the way to discrete, giving the happy sound quality of PCM and much of the surround that ads spaciousness.

    I needed a new reciever anyway, but this is pretty darn snazzy. I'd cite examples, but 99% of the people on this board wouldn't have a clue who the group was, let alone have the disc
