My Yamaha RX-V2400 displays properties about the incoming digital signal. My friend's H/K AVR230 also does the same, however the 2 receivers have a slightly different format when displaying properties about Dolby Digital EX and DTS ES tracks, and I'm just curious which one is right.

For example, the Yamaha RX-V2400 displays the following for a DTS ES track:
    DTS
    in: 3/2/LFE
    fs: 48 kHz
    rate: 448 kbps
    flg: ES Discrete

    And the H/K displays:
    3/3/.1

My question is regarding the difference about the number of channels: the Yamaha says 3/2/LFE but mentions the ES flag, whereas the H/K says 3/3/.1. Which one is right?

Assuming it's an ES Discrete 6.1 track (as opposed to ES Matrix), you could say that either one is correct. They're alternate ways of describing the same thing. (My own preference would be the "3/3.1" notation.)
