Hi All,

I just moved into a new rental unit, and to make a long story short, I can't/don't want to go through the hassle of putting my surround speakers in the rear. So, my question is this:

Would it be better to just use a 3.1 setup or should I use all 5.1 speakers but just put the "surround" speakers in the front (basically right next to the front speakers)?

Thanks for any input you have.

Receiver: Yamaha RX-481BL
Speakers: Klipsch Quintet Generation 5

Definitely a NO on the 5.1 option.

Go with a nice Soundbar (or your front 3's if you don't want any form of "surround sound" and call it good I say.

Yeah, definitely 3.1 if you can't use 5.1 in the proper configuration. You'd be surprised how much surround activity you get with 3.1 depending on the acoustics of the room.

I already have all the equipment, so I'd rather just use this in whatever configuration than buy a soundbar. And this is just a temporary setup, so it sounds like 3.1 is the way to go.

Thanks!
