I also think separate threads are the best idea. While vBulletin handles multiple pages well, it's going to get messy in the long run.

I would love to have separate subforums for shows like Buffy/Angel or 24. Shouldn't be a problem with vBulletin and would make it easier to keep up. It is almost impossible to find the reviews and discussions about older Buffy oder Angel episodes.

Uh, 16 hours ahead is the same as 8 hours behind, as far as the time of day is concerned. Also, we just went back to Standard time, which puts L.A. at -800 GMT. In Daylight, it's -700. If Seoul does not have Daylight time, then 9 and 7 is 16.

It just seems I get a negative reaction whenever the plot breaks back to her.
Reminds me of how Dave Letterman is now adding "In my pants!" at the end of everything (in addition to "Is this Vassar?!"). Of course, in that case, the reaction is not negative.

Great premier! I was thinking they might start where they left off last season but I'm glad they didn't. However, they did leave loose ends from last season. They didn't tie in last season at all. So my question is, who was Nina working for in Germany. Did they figure it out or did they jump in a time machine and just appear 1 year later? The last 2-3 episodes from last season were pretty weak. It's as if the writers didn't finish the season and the stage hands wrote the last few episodes. Anyway, the start of this season looks great, just didn't tie together last season at all. They could have called it a totally different show like "CTU" or something, but keeping with the real time justifies it's name of "24".

So I was right in saying the torture scene was occuring the same time as the Prez was fishing in Oregon. :D

It's a trivial matter, but can anyone explain why the torture victims feet were enclosed in bags of yellowish liquid? Is there any basis in reality for their presence. For whatever reason I fixated on that element of the torture scene, and I couldn't let go of it until Jack executed the unremorseful child pornographer. On second thought, maybe it would be best if no one is able to answer this question...

I'm not an expert on torture, but I think the feet were in that liquid because the victim was somehow being shocked or zapped in an effort to make him talk. I think the pain would be greater and less of a charge needed if he is in water like that. Of course, I could be way off as well.

At least they got a bit of the environment right. I took a quick glane at the military uniforms in the room and they did indeed have the 2nd Inf. Div. patch on. Was glad to see that bit because of how often I was rolling my eyes every time they mentioned "NSA wants this..." or things along those lines.

Did anyone else notice that the time was actually going faster then "real time?" I got to my friends house at 9:04, thinking I was late, but when I walked into the room I saw the clock flashing the top of the hour. I was very relieved to see that, and he told me it started later because of the long commercial. But then the clock seemed to go faster then my watch and his VCR clock and catch up with them, and by the end of the episode, it was fine and they were in sync.

What's the point in having a commercial free episdoe of a real-time show if it's not going to be shot in real-time? I know it's only 4 minutes, but this show seems to pride itself on this exactness.

That aside, the show was 100% awesome. I thought Jack was a bad ass last year! The one lucky person in CTU is Tony, he'll be one of the few guys Jack SHOULD trust throughout the day.

Yeah, but it's not really a big deal. The show itself ran about 54 minutes, but the telescoping was pretty minimal (and seemed to occur mostly when people were in cars or the like). I did raise my eyebrows at the "events occur in real time" part of the voice-over; the show had quietly dropped that about six hours into the first season.

That happened last year as well. Its needed to account for the commercials and opening and closing credits.

Its just more apparent when the commercial time is bunched at the beginning and end. Put those commercials

I just rewatched it, cut in sub-titles when needed, just to get everyone's name straight, especially all the blonds. I think this will help keep things straight in the long run. The Mom Kim nanny's for is Clara, daughter Megan, Husband is Gary.
The girl getting married is Marie, fiance is Rehza and sister is Kate.

Oh, I see. I was one of the people that watched the entire first season on DVD. I realized that they allotted time for commercials, I just assumed that it was the correct time.

I must say, it will be a bit tougher to watch it once a week. (I watched the first season in 4 DAYS!) I remember a friend of mine going through withdrawal last Dec/Jan, because they didn't have a new episode of 24 for a month or so.

Dyeing all their hair would help keep things straight.

I had taped the show Tuesday night and just sat down to watch it.
Great opening - especially when Jack went off. The line, "Get me a hacksaw" gave me the willies. I think he is definitely not going to take any prisoners. He reminded me, in that sequence, of Mackey from The Shield. I hope they explore Jack's dark edge.

I didn't think I'd end up watching Season 2 weekly when I got the DVDs. I was so happy that the show is going to be released so readily, that I thought I'd skip it and wait.

I can't. Once you go through the entire first season, there is nothing to keep you from season 2.

Excellent first episode. I knew Jack was going to kill the prisoner when he asked for him to be brought in, and I still recoiled when he actually did it.

24 is the best show on commercial television. I can't wait until tomorrow night. I may rewatch tonight if I have the time.

Man I caught the rerun tonight. Great stuff. I had read this thread hoping that there would be a replay of it. I knew that Jack was going to randomly shoot somebody, yet it still shocked the He** outta me when he did it. This should be a great ride!

I'm also glad that they writers/creators for this season didn't shy away from using middle-eastern terrorists trying to attack the US with a nuke. It's very true and its a sham that The Sum of All Fears did change theirs. By the way, was it mentioned what country they thought 2nd Wave was from or was it intentionally not said. I didn't think I missed it, but I might of.

Oh and sooo many blondes in the show. That will be tough to keep them straight. Especially the sisters and the mom that Kim nanny's for.

Tues night should be fun!
