My screener just arrived today, and I assume others didn't get it until now - or very recently - too. Expect reviews in the near future...

British films usually have more special features on DVD in region 2 as compared to region 1. I always end up buying the region 2 DVD, which will be the case with 24 Hour Party People:
Region 1:
Audio Commentary by Steve Coogan
Audio Commentary by Tony Wilson and Producer Andrew Eaton
2 Featurettes
Photo Gallery
Region 2:
extras will include a commentary track with Tony Wilson, additional commentary track with Coogan and Andrew Eaton, an artist's commentary from Peter Hook, Rowetta, Leroy Richardson, Bruce Mitchell, Miranda Sawyer, Bobby Langley and Martin Moscrop, a White Rabbit style guide to who's who and what's what, 24 deleted scenes, interviews, Portrait of a Filmmaker documentary, Peter Saville design gallery with commentary, and Here to Stay music video by New Order.

Because I can't bear to hear the music that I love sped up by PAL, right now I'm planning on getting both versions. But I would like to see some reviews that tell us specifically what features the Region 1 release is missing.

24 deleted scenes in the R2 version? Ods bodkins! I wanna see-- this is one of my favorite films from last year.

Oh, and this is officially the WORST, most misleading cover I have ever seen (if MGM is using the "tongue piercing" cover). Even worse than the new Frighteners and Dante's Peak covers. Absolutely dreadful and a sign that MGM Home Entertainment's art department needs to be sacked.

I agree that the US cover artwork is horrendous
Here they are for comparison. Who on earth came up with the idea that a tongue piercing looked good on this DVD?

I think the US version is supposed to have the deleted scenes on it.

FYI: I just discovered where the pic above originated from. Go check out the website: http://supernautic.blogspot.com/

I'd agree the inspiration for the US art leaves a fair bit to be desired, but then the R2 artwork itself suffers from that common R2 cover trait of looking like a cheap bootleg.
I'm surprised the R1 got any extras at all, but pleased the most important ones (the commentaries from my point of view) are on there. That's good enough for me, so I look forward to reviews of the US disc.
And yes the R1 has deleted scenes;

I get the impression that this feature from disc 2 is the main one left off the US release:
Former Factory collaborators Peter Hook, Rowetta, Leroy Richardson, Bruce Mitchell, Miranda Sawyer, Bobby Langley, and Martin Moscrop are filmed in a Manchester pub watching the film. The movie plays in a small screen within the image, while you can watch and listen to their thoughts.
There are a lot of comments like "1976, that was the year..." typifying their chat. They all love the recreation of the era, especially the Hacienda set. Among the most amusing of their recollections is that both Joy Division and New Order's instruments carried stickers telling the band members what notes to play since they'd never really learnt properly.
My impression is that this is a "watch the people as they record the commentary" type feature.

Guys,

Change of plans.

Will not be reviewing this film.

I turned it off after 30 minutes. My head hurts.

I am not the sort of person who should be doing
a review of this film, and to do so would be an
insult to the film.

Though I often exceed my limitations, I know
the limitations I must not exceed.

I was curious why you would review it, Ronald, as it seems very much a film aimed at people who grew up in & around that time in the UK.

Sorry to hear you didn't like it Ron, but it does have a rather non-traditional style. I did not grow up in the UK, but I am a big fan of the music which is probably why I enjoyed the movie.

Yeah, sorry, guys.

I really gave it my best shot but realized
I was in way over my head within the first 30 minutes.
