Fox is currently in talks with the producers of both shows for a direct-to-DVD movie. The "new" 24 DVDs would have a different cast than the TV show and cover subjects like heists, etc. From Video Business...

Yeah, the "24" thing makes no sense. Different format, different cast - that makes it just a generic direct-to-video thriller.

Actually, the direct-to-DVD series of "24" will take place in the real time format. It will however take place with a different cast and will deal with heists and such. This could work very well, however, they need to find a lead that will do as well as Kiefer has...

So the movie's gonna be 24 hours long??? Or the whole 'heist' is gonna go down in 1:30?

Neat idea. Soon after Farscape was cancelled, there was talk about whether it could be sustained as a direct-to-video series, and these 24 spin-offs would be a neat test of the concept. It'll be interesting to see what people would be willing to pay for these 8-hour miniseries, too.

Also, wasn't Sutherland talking about a theatrical 24 at some point last year (it sounded vaguely Die Hard-ish, and the name 120 seems to come to mind)?

I agree it makes no sense to use the 24 branding on the DTV releases if they aren't 24 hours long.

Sign me up for Family Guy as well.

If it's a different story, different cast and not 24 hours long than in what way does it make it 24?

That would be like calling something Star Trek and setting it in a different time with a different cast and a different storyline....no wait.
