“The bridge has burned “ statement by the Tampa Mayor was pretty telling that it’s over. See article.
Of course we’ll never know who’s telling the truth, or which if either side was negotiating in good faith. Unfortunately the losers will be the Rays fans (I don’t think they have that many), and the city which will lose much needed jobs (see Oakland- they have lost 3 sports teams, which meant lots of lost jobs).

Will the Rays move to Nashville? Seems logical- that city is growing by leaps and bounds. The logistics of where their new stadium will be is crucial- traffic is a bit of a nightmare these days there.

If the 1994 strike and later discussion of 2 teams being retracted would’ve gone in a different direction, it makes me wonder what the game would look like today.

Great point- the league has too many teams, especially with the economics in today’s game. Too many teams just can’t compete with the big boys- the Rays, Marlins, A’s, etc will never be able to retain the league’s best players, even with deferring a contract
(the small market and poorer teams can’t kick the can down the road like the Dodgers can).

I also think a new stadium in Tampa could end of being like what happened in Miami. They built a new stadium and no one comes to the games.

That being said the Rays consistently field a good team of players where as Miami does not.

I think Kimbrel is washed up. He ain’t going to stick with the Braves organization.

I’ve always Kimbrell even though I’m a Mets fan. I could see him doing well somehow with the Braves. Even if it’s only against the Mets!

I’ll try and catch n April game in Gwinnett to see all of these ex major leaguers the Braves are signing!!!

I got to know more about Kimbrel when he was with the Dodgers. He does have his issues, but he's a really nice person.

A Paul Skenes rookie baseball card went for
$1.1 million at auction. Just wow. The first TJ surgery will make that a very bad investment.
Not wishing anything like that on him of course, but you have to wonder what people are thinking.

How rare is the card?

I don’t know if it’s a limited pressing from a small company, but it seems absurd to me that the card is “worth” that much, before he starts his sophomore year in the majors.
Of course in our capitalist society, things are worth exactly what people are willing to pay, no matter how ridiculous the purchase price is.

FYI this a decent summary about the Skenes' rookie card in question:

It was a one of kind card, reportedly pulled by an 11-year old Dodgers' fan. The fan and his family have chosen to remain anonymous throughout the process.

That was my suspicion. I don’t collect cards anymore but talked with someone who knew where the hobby is these days. I could not believe that they have cards that are one of a kind. I thus assumed this was one of them to go for so much $$$.
