Teams need to have more than two challenges per game. Once those are gone, then the umpire is free to do whatever he wants for the rest of the game.

Not sure why a "tradition" based on errors and egos is one so many want to preserve.

In general I agree, although keep in mind the challenge is only lost if the original call is not confirmed.

So if the umpire is consistently getting the strike zone wrong, and challenges to those calls are successful, they can keep making them. They only lose the ability to make challenges if they twice make challenges that result in the umpire being proved correct.

For me, I lost all patience and respect for “tradition” on the day that rookie kid threw a perfect game, but the umpire missed the final out and called the runner safe when the runner obviously was not. Everyone in the stands and at home knew immediately that it was a blown call. Other umpires on the field knew it was a blown call. And rather than saying “Wow, we made a terrible mistake but that’s easy to fix, he’s out”, the wrong call stood and the umpires acted as if it was something to be proud of. The umpire and pitcher even co-authored a book about forgiveness, but it’s like, why write a book about forgiveness tomorrow when today you could have just said “oops, my mistake, he’s out”?

Yes that travesty about the perfect game being taken away from Galaragga was around 2010. A shame that it couldn’t be corrected. My memory of that is the ump that
murdered the call immediately owned up to his error- at least he wasn’t arrogant and stubborn about
defending the call.

And yet, the call stood.

That would be fine. The way I read the info about the Arizona/Colorado game, it sounded like each team gets a maximum of only two challenges per game, if successful. If the first is not successful, they don't get a second. But once they've used two, they're done for the rest of the game.

It’s two misses (i.e. challenge and get it wrong). Can keep going as long as you are right.

Lucky I’m de-emphasizing my sports fandom because the Yankees just lost Gerrit Cole to TJS.
Stanton may be out all season too. It’s too bad. Injuries really stink.

Mets lost their catcher Alvarez for 2 months at least. Plus they have a few other injuries already too.

Last year MLB's baseball uniforms had many players complaining about them, the way they fit and a see-thru quality. New Era has newly designed baseball caps this year and one of them just got banned:

How do you feel about TETAS, so to speak?

A few weeks ago I tried to find the Mets spring training cap online and it’s completely sold out.. I guess it’s in one size now…

Here they all are:

We got the Houston Ashos. heh! The Red Sox have BOBON! LA's could be appropriate; you might read it as "Dollars". Hmm...the ANAELS? Seattle's kinda looks like MASHERS. Dear MLB Fans: Do not buy these things. Except the TETAS one, perhaps!

I have way too many hats. Not crazy about these. Something about the logo covering up the rest of the words.

I've read the fans of a certain star of Wicked are buying the D'Backs cap.

The Cubs and Dodgers are playing each other in Japan March 18th & 19th next week to officially open their seasons.

After that, the Dodgers play three exhibition games March 23-25. The Cubs play five exhibition games from March 21-25. Official MLB Opening Day is March 27th. Have any teams previously played official games and then exhibition games and then start the regular season games before this?

I seem to remember the Mariners doing this, before COVID- there was a question about whether Ichiro would play over in Japan.
