It's one of the sunniest and warmer parts of the city.

That doesn't say a whole lot for that location though given how the whole city tends to be, heh...

And that area can definitely get very windy (and cloudy) quite often, IIRC...

I find it's usually much nicer (maybe another mile or two) further northwest along that waterfront area facing the Bay -- stretch after the turn westward facing the Rock is usually much nicer (w/ plenty of shopping, restaurants, family fun and/or touristy stuff) me thinks.

Generally, if one heads south (maybe 10-20 miles) away from SF itself, but still very much midway on the peninsula in the Bay area, it can be a whole lot sunnier, warmer, etc and far more consistently so...

It's one of the most scenic parts of the city. It must be nice to hit a homer into the Bay.

That view (at least outside the ballpark) can certainly be stunning... but the weather is also very fickle (much like the rest of the city proper). Almost feels ironic or something how fickle it can be while being so consistently w/in a generally very mild temp range pretty much year round (though SF seems to have gotten a tad colder during their winters, but still generally w/ highs above 50F, if not always in the 70's)...

Does anyone do the All-Star voting? I've been doing it, but I think it's crap. I knew the final round was July 1-3 and I just did it. I had been doing it around noon and just happened to do it a few minutes ago today. It's 9am in L.A. and I noticed that's the cut-off here; the East coast got to vote until noon. Yesterday an article said Mookie and Trea Turner were 50%-50% in the voting and Teoscar was 1% behind in 4th in the three outfield choices. Just seems like the east coast players are getting an advantage with the cut-off time. Ohtani could be the only Dodger selected in this voting. (And Will Smith not being in the final two NL catchers is just wrong.) My opinions of course.

Skenes 4-0, 2.06, 52 innings, 70 strikeouts, 1.03 WHIP. Very impressive, but I think an all-star game starter should have been on a major league roster at the beginning of the season. My opinion.
Perhaps.

I feel like the all star game has lost a lot of importance. I watch a few innings of it at best now.

I'd be ok w/ it if he at least joined the roster by mid-to-late April and played roughly 75% as much as a typical all-star SP who's been on the roster the entire 1st half, but yeah, he's really only played around 50-60% as much.

IF the Pirates were terrible again this year w/ no other good option for a lone, required all-star representation, then I guess so... but they do have a couple other reasonably solid pitching options (in Keller and Jones) on top of Reynolds (and maybe Oneil Cruz)...

Anyway, the ASG isn't that important anyway (even though they use it to determine homefield advantage for the World Series)...

Chris sale makes sense for the NL.

I’m waiting for the first pitcher to get injured in an all star game and then have to get an arm surgery… and more game changes will be made.

Oops!

Home field advantage in the World Series was determined by the league that won the All-Star Game from 2003-2016. Previously, home-field advantage in the World Series alternated between the two leagues each year. Since 2017, home-field advantage has been awarded to the World Series team having the better regular season record.

Some of my best July 4th's were attending MLB games!
(Truly not as good if your team doesn't win, though.)

Go 4th and have a great day all!

I still think it should be based on the ASG.

Guess my relative disinterest/apathy toward the ASG and the minutiae of homefield advantage (and how it's attained) for the MLB postseason is showing, haha...

The advantage is certainly highly debatable, if at all meaningful for the game itself (outside of the economics and viability of particular fan attendance), unlike in some other sports me thinks...

I'm always just watching on the tele anyway (although I did have the opps for worthwhile tix here in NYC long ago once upon a time)...

Diaz looks like he's about to finish hs suspension. Pirates just blasted Hrs off the Mets in last night's game -- after July 4 Fireworks and then 7 HRs yesterday , the stadium actually put a message up that they ran out of celebration fireworks. Actually pretty funny

Houston nearly pulled off an Anti-Miracle in the bottom of 9th -- going into the final half inning with a 13-5 lead, getting 2 outs quickly , but then ending up escaping with 13-12 lead. Hader finally came into the game at 13-8 with 2 outs, gave up a Grand Slam to Correa but finally got the final out for a scary save.

Great play earlier in the game

[...] (And Will Smith not being in the final two NL catchers [All-Star Voting] is just wrong.) My opinions of course.
So the Dodgers played the Milwaukee Brewers last night with their catcher Willson Contreras voted the starting catcher for the National League in the All Star Game. Offensive: Contreras-1 base on balls. Smith-2 bases on balls, 3 home runs.
Smith became the fourth catcher in Dodgers history to have a three-homer game along with Roy Campanella (1950), MIke Piazza (1996) and Yassmani Grandal (2016).
