Edwin Diaz was thrown out for a sticky substance on his pitching hand. 9th inning and he did not pitch to a batter..
Third Mets pitcher suspended for this. 2 last year and now Diaz this season. Strange…

Not that I wish that on anyone, but the Angels might actually win a bit more w/out him, LOL...

He actually has some excellent (though not overpowering) stuff and good promise, but is all too often infuriating w/ his control/command (and maybe head/mental aspect on the mound)...

Interesting stat going on with Miguel Rojas and the Dodgers that fans and broadcasters
have been paying attention to: When Rojas gets a hit, the Dodgers win.

--23-0 when Miguel Rojas gets a hit.

And also:

--16-0 when he scores a run
--12-0 when he drives in a run
-- 3-0 when he steals a base

When the Dodgers were down 9-4 in Colorado in the 9th inning last week and came back
to win, Miguel got the ball rolling in the top of the 9th with his first base hit of the game!

MLB.com highlighted it today...

^Is that because if/when Rojas gets a hit at all, that means the opposing pitching+defense probably sucks, so the rest of the Dodgers offense would be piling it on easily enough to win even if their own pitching+defense were mediocre/poor for those games? ;)

Bizarre play in this afternoon’s A’s/Angels game. Top of the 2nd, A’s had runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. Max Schuemann hits a double, scoring Armando Alvarez from second base, and Kyle McCann from first, with no throw to the plate from the fielders.
Problem was McCann got his feet sort of tangled up, and missed touching home plate. Alvarez puts his hands on him, as if he was pushing McCann back to retouch the plate. The home plate ump immediately pointed at Alvarez, and signaled out. Alvarez’s run counted, but McCann’s run did not. The ump got the rule interpretation correct.

Mets win again. They are playing really well right now. They are back to .500.
Best record in MLB in June.

Judge with 30 homers!

Braves have an April makeup in Chicago vs the Sox today. Homecoming for Chris sale.

Mets start a series with Houston tomorrow. Houston has won 7 straight and they are back to .500.

Close Call Sports did a video all about it.

I've been there. Beautiful Park. It's a helluva better than Candlestick.
Is it true that the new park isn’t as affected by the weather as Candlestick? I read somewhere that Candlestick’s location lent itself to cold, foggy weather.

Aaron Judge continues on one of the longest streaks I've ever seen - i started to call it a hot streak but after 250+PA I'm not quite sure that's correct. After HR in the 1st inning today -- over the last 60 games he's approaching 400/500/900 OPS with 28 HR and 70rbi since the last week of April. Not quite Barry Bonds, but pretty damn impressive.

If he hadn't been so awful the first month of the season he'd be well into triple crown territory. Even with those first awful 100 PA he's only 3 pts off the BA lead.

Spring training is important and Judge's April struggles are a testament to that reality. Judge missed most of spring training games with an injury while the Yankees were very careful dealing with that injury. He hardly had any at-bats in Feb/March, so April's games basically became his spring training at-bats.

Didn't want to start a new thread, but is this a Soccer version of the Hidden Ball trick or old school NFL Fake QB Spike. Pretty funny (as long as you aren't the goalie or Toronto fan) . Not even a random goal in middle of game, but the final minute of stoppage play so essentially a sudden death game winner
