I guess I'm the one person who finds the first two Deadpool movies to be mediocre at best. It doesn't help that I hate Ryan Reynolds due to a garbage filmography (a guy that famous and his best movies are the Deadpools?) and how obnoxious he is by having basically made Deadpool his public persona.
I'd say it's more that Deadpool has Ryan Reynolds' persona. He was acting that way long before he got that role. He just cranks it up to 11 when in costume.

The Deadpool franchise may be his highest grossing films, but I don't know that they're his "best". He's done some good work in Buried, The Proposal, Woman in Gold, Mississippi Grind, The Adam Project, and IF.

Yes, Wade Wilson is very Van Wilder-esque. ;)

Surprised at how well Longlegs is doing. Will most likely end up at about $70 million or so. It will actually outgross Furiosa. Who would have predicted that??

I don't get it either. After reading the synopsis, I figured word of mouth would drive it off a cliff in week 2.

I mean it was ok I thought but never would have thought it could be this successful. Ya can never know what connects with horror audiences I guess.

Maybe it's driven by horror fans(?) like one of my more discriminating friends who raved about it to me -- I was actually already planning to see it even though I keep claiming I'm not really a big horror fan... but maybe I'm more so than I'm willing to admit (or maybe I'm just making up for "lost time" after spending ~2.5 decades staying mostly away from that genre because of the WAF), LOL(!)... :P:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I probably did like Longlegs a bit more than you... But yeah, definitely very surprising it'll probably outgross Furiosa... though that's probably much more because Furiosa has been such a huge boxoffice disappointment rather than how surprisingly well Longlegs is doing...

They'd said that might happen, as Disney is usually pretty conservative in their early estimates.

D&W already over $824 million worldwide, well past the totals of the first two Deadpool films which finished in the $700 millions.

That’s pretty abysmal for a family movie opening mid-summer more than a month after the last family oriented family, at a time when many summer school and camp programs are out.

Then again, the trailer didn’t exactly inspire awe.

I'm not sure a live-action film of an adult Harold was the way to go. Also, Zachary Levi seems to be on the verge of box office poison.

A rare instance for me of hearing the movie title and thinking “oh I’m gonna take the kids to see this” and then being unsold by the trailer.

Admittedly, I am not in the market for this movie. I also don't have kids. But why should parents take their kids to see Harold specifically? If they want to take their kids to a movie for the sake of an outing, both Inside Out 2 and Despicable Me 4 are still around and relatively in demand. There doesn't seem to be much reason to consider Harold instead of another viewing of either of those movies which parents likely already know their kids will enjoy. Why take the risk on something with a bad trailer and bad reviews when those movies are already working for the family demographic?

Incidentally, I saw Inside Out 2 again on Saturday. It is now tucked away in one of the smaller auditoriums, but there were 25 or so people there. That might not sound like much, but the only movie I've seen recently that had a bigger crowd was Deadpool and Wolverine last week. I suspect the theater is still very glad to have it drawing that many people for a movie that came out in June.
