Saw the Oscar nominated Live Action short films today, and was impressed by all five. Probably my favorite was the last one shown, "football", but the whole slate was good.

This was presented as part of a two-fer with the Oscar nominated animated short films. Overall, the entire presentation was 3 hours and 20 minutes, including a 10 minute intermission between both sets of films. Well worth it for the $10 ticket price I paid.

The bundle did NOT include the Oscar nominated documentary short films.

This is what I wrote earlier in the Oscar Nominations thread:

I am back from the Live Action Shorts. They were all very good, but my favorites were Nefta Football Club and My Neighbors' Window. The shorts were still pretty heavy but overall less depressing than last year's nominees.

The reason why the Documentary Shorts weren't included are probably because at least in previous years they are all right around the 45 minute maximum length for a short so you would be sitting there for 3.5 hours just watching documentary shorts.

Yes, I didn't expect the documentary shorts to be included. I have been to this for 8 years now and they never have been, IIRC. I just mentioned that in case anyone was unsure about it.

I saw the shorts program yesterday. Very enjoyable. Wayne you're spot-on about last year's program; I think 3 of the 5 featured horrible things happening to children. This year, there was only one, "Saria", which I kind of think will win, although my favorite was "Nefta Football Club", the most purely entertaining of the five. Thought "The Neighbors Window" was excellent as well.

I was also rooting for "Football" to win, I thought it was best, but all of them were good so "Neighbors" winning was fine with me too.
