Box Office Pro giving an early opening weekend prediction for Captain Marvel of $140M+.

I figured it would do well, but was expecting something closer to the $80-90M range. It’s still pretty early, but if it comes anywhere near their prediction that would be impressive.
It's a Marvel movie.I have to admit I'm a bit confused about all the high-money predictions for "Captain Marvel". What is it about the movie that inspires such confidence?
It's a Marvel movie.
The massive appeal of the entire series is basically lost on me. That being said, I think it's part this:Yeah, I know, but people weren't talking super-duper grosses for "Ant-Man and the Wasp", and that was for a character better known to the public since it was a sequel.
"Captain Marvel" seems to be getting really high projections, and I just don't really get it.
Not saying it won't happen, not saying it won't be a good movie, but... I don't get it!
and part that the character is apparently a major part of Avengers 4 that has fans excited for Captain Marvel.Captain Marvel might be getting extra buzz because it is the first MCU solo film led by a female superhero.
Well that’s certainly an understatement.I liked this movie a lot. I'm sorry to see that it didn't connect at the box office....
Universal and Disney have to be happy with the early returns for Glass.
That’s true.I'd read somewhere that Shyamalan fully financed it and that Universal and Disney are just distributing.
Disney owns the rights to the Unbreakable IP, and I believe Universal owns the rights to the Split IP. So they're probably getting a bigger percentage than they would in a straight distribution deal.I'd read somewhere that Shyamalan fully financed it and that Universal and Disney are just distributing. If so, I wonder how much of that they get to keep, since they're probably taking a straight distribution fee percentage of the box office. In any case, that's a win for them for sure.
