The Third Man.
I always wondered what that alien was saying in Star Wars...turns out, it was "buy the higher build, Ron!"
I had him in a group chat with my buddy who also bought a pumped up 16” today.
Not taking any of this personally. You know I love you guys. I also very much appreciate and do absorb the advice you give.
The price just came in so much lower than expected. Going high end was an easy choice. It will increase the sell value. I may even actually hold on to this model for more than a year.
Like bikes that were mentioned in this thread, my computer is the most important item I own. I use it for hours a day. It brings me more joy than my home theater.
I was surprised at the prices too! I couldn’t wait for the launch and don’t regret not trying to, but the 16” is probably my choice next time I need a new machine. Enjoy it in good health, Ron!
Josh, I want to personally take this moment to thank you for the kind words you have posted for me.
I have been humiliated, dragged through the coals and reduced to the lowest form of human life through words posted by HTF members I have come to love and respect but obviously don't share the same for me.
It took a hero like you to post something positive about the choices I have made in my life.
You, Josh, are a fine human being and I thank you for that!
I expect pictures once it arrives!
Just don’t do an iJustine style unboxing video.
"I need a minute"
No unboxing photos. Really, there are so many photos of the 16" MBP out there.
I am going to do a video on a new gaming chair I just bought. Think that may be of more interest than the MBP.
Wait, what? Did I miss something? I see good natured ribbing not humiliation.
I for one can't wait to see that.
Sorry, I thought it stood out as what it was...
A joke. It was sarcasm.
Ron - I do hope you know it came from a place of humor and not anger or any attempt to humiliate you. As I self-admitted, I purchased bikes that cost several MBPs, and honestly I'm maybe 3-4mph faster on them than I would be on a Wal-Mart special. And nowhere near the speed I'd need to be at to compete at even a club level ride, let alone a pro tour.
We all would not be members here at HTF if we didn't believe in spending money on our passions.
Oh lol I just reloaded the page and saw your post. But hey, I'll still post this. Because feelings.
PS I hope your new MBP comes with a sarcasm key.
They can put it where the virtual ESC key used to be.
I need to offer an apology..
I thought my response to Josh above would be so obviously over-the-top in painting me a victim and him a hero that it would be apparent it was pure sarcasm.
Never, at any point, did I feel bullied or disrespected by any of you. I have thick skin when it comes to this kind of stuff and you guys have been really great with the ribbing. I took it for what it was.
Roger that. Moving on to more anticipation
I will say that, in my view, the great move by Apple here was the replacement of the 15" with the 16" and keeping the price relatively affordable. My fear going in was that the 16" was a new line on top of the 15" line, starting at a higher price premium (the rumor going around many sites was $3K I believe). I was thinking they were going down the path of the same mistake of the 17" MBP. That had a very limited niche appeal due not only to it's higher price, but it was also a beast to lug around.
Now it looks like they've kept the form factor largely the same, just greatly reducing the large (by today's standard) bezel on the 15". And keeping the starting point at $2399 (less with certain discounts) was key to getting me interested in having work purchase one for me a month or two down the line. That, and getting rid of that awful keyboard.
No you don’t - you cracked me up at an hour I’m usually incapable of laughter.
