Amen to that. They play such a ridiculously long season that the "boys of summer" are now the "boys of spring, summer, and fall." The snow-outs during the first weeks this year were a farce.

I wish it was top team of the league goes to the world series in 2001. Then my Mariners would've been in it! I hate how everyone gives us shit about not having a WS appearance. It's like "Yeah, but we WOULD have by the old rules!" ;)

My son and I went to Fenway last week for Game #1 of the ALDS between the Red Sox and Yankees.

Game 4 of the NLCS took a while to find a winner last night.

So I finally bothered watching a baseball game in 4k last night. Basic thoughts....

    - Wow. No commercials. Period. Hell they didn't even cut to the studio durring those "after the game stick around for..." bits leading to some strange silences. This was literally just FS1's raw feed with graphics overlays (but no sponsorship) and Buck and Smoltz. To say the least it was weird actually being able to see the 7th Inning Stretch on tv.

    - Despite being billed as 4k, I'm not convinced it actually was. Fox transmits in 720p and there were various visual artifacts that suggest to me that this was just an upscale of said 720p signal. You could tell from the terrible aliasing from the pitcher mound cam angle (which is of course the one most used in the broadcast).

    - Goddammit Brewers, making me stay up til 2:30 am because your big bats went ice cold (and Bellinger's finally woke up).

    - Sox/Astros game was much more entertaining. Why couldn't THAT have been on in 4k?

    - More to the point why is MLB Network the only one with good cameras for these games? That Yankees/Red Sox game from last month looked STUNNING even on my TCL which may or may not support the HDR DirecTV uses.

    Hear endeth the thoughts.

There has been 4K broadcast on DirecTV all season long. It's only been one or two games a week on Channel 106.

^What he said. DirecTV Channel 106 assuming you have the correct hardware (4k is only supported on the mini-Genie). They're only showing the NLCS in 4k this year and as DirecTV encodes their 4k broadcasts with Hybrid Log Gamma instead of HDR10 or Dolby Vision, you may be stuck with Standard depending on the tv.

I'm disgusted that MLB has opted to promote its post-season with a song titled: "Is You Ready?"

    Wouldn't happen on my watch.

Can/t hit the mute button fast enough and I can't seem to find a channel it's not playing.
So far the LCS's have been a lot of fun

The whole Milwaukee Pitching strategy is driving me crazy though

Shocking!:D I kind of like the song from my viewing of the movie Mile 22, but the song is definitely not being used for your demographic.

And THAT'S what really matters!

The song seems catchy, actually, but wouldn't it have "worked" if the lyric had been written "Are You Ready?"

I think this is the 2018 version of Paul McCartney's father suggesting changing the YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! refrain from SHE LOVES YOU to YES! YES! YES! :)

That said, there's something about replacing ARE with IS at the beginning of the YOU READY? phrasing that I find a bit grating. It's just a personal preference, I suppose!

    CHEERS! :)
