2016 Pumpkin Carves (1 Viewer)

So here are my pumpkins I carved for my 2016 Halloween display.

I usually carve 15-20 a year, but this year time and other things have really cut my carving time.

In anticipation of the inevitable questions, these are foam pumpkins. I use to carve real pumpkins, but I got tired of all the last minute carving with the end result of everything rotting in a few days. Of course, if I really liked a carve, I would have to redo it the next year and so on....

So I switched over to foam pumpkins. They allow me to carve year around as I find time to do them. I use a dremel and various bits and make some using my own patterns as well as some I got from various sites off the internet.

I'm just the opposite from you, I prefer to carve on the real giant pumpkins. However it's obvious you've found what you should carve because these are beautiful. Alien, Fright Night, and the skull (don't recognize it's origin) are my favorites.

Do you cut a hole in the back to insert the illumination and what do you use for illumination?

Since this thread has been resurrected, I thought I'd give a preview for the pumpkins I will carve this year (health prevented carving last year). I hope to do 3 giant pumpkins and have patterns for 2 of them done. The third may be an Alien.

It does, but it's still a stinker. I select my carves based on whether I like the movie poster and whether it's carvable.
