To that end, I've bought Ghostbusters 3D, The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies 3D, Edge of Tomorrow 3D, and Jupiter Ascending 3D for $19.99 from Amazon within the past week, all new and from Amazon directly. I already have them but I saw the 3D versions of Iron Man 3, Dial M For Murder, Jurassic Park 3D, Jurassic World 3D and several other good choices were also under $20. Whether they're advertising it as a 3D sale or not, they've got some good prices going on at the moment - just mentioning in case that might be of interest to anyone.

And that's sort of been my trouble. When it came out my daughter and I went to see Edge of Tomorrow in 3D at the IMAX in King of Prussia, PA. She treated me for father's day or I treated her for her birthday, I don't remember which. Anyhow, the 3D blu-ray price was rediculously high (>25 back when my desired limit was 20). I bought it on a flash sale or BF or Cyber monday for 7.99 for the 2D version. Ditto Iron Man 3. I'm not sure I want to double dip for those titles.

I did however this morning order The Hobbit Trilogy extended Edition 3D from amazon.co.uk for 24.99 GPB (listed at 27.99 but reduced when you check out). today. That works out to 34.04 USD and should be arriving 12/5-12/8 estimated. I posted an offer to trade the digital codes that come with it for US codes for something or other.

My preferences are 3D then Blu, then DVD, but since my parents grew up in the depression (the old one) I have learned the value of money and even though I'm capable of playing anything (except UHD HDR at the moment), I wont overspend except for really really good stuff. So last year at this time I jumped all over a foxconnect sale of TV seasons on DVD for about 8.50 each in DVD even though many of them were available in blu-ray in the $20 range.

Sorry for rambling but when you get on a roll...

Mike,

I think this is specifically for Black Friday and Blu-ray deals.

In the past (though not in the past two years), Amazon actually listed those BF deals far in advance

Gotcha, Ron.

I just figured many of Amazon's Blu deals would end up in those places at one time or another (except for those "flash" deals).

If I can buy them online I'm interested in a few titles. But if I have to wait in long lines at Best Buy forget about it.

Appears that Amazon single handedly trying to prove Prime Day is better better than Black Friday by pretending BF doesn't exist so they don;t have to come up with deals anymore. I guess they're hoping the legions of people who seem to think Amazon is the only place in the US that sells merchandise will continue to wonder why there arent any sales this week

Got Finding Dory blu at Walmart for $10. Shelf tag had sale price of $15, but it rang up at $10. Not sure how long that price is good.

Wasn't really planning to get anything this year but grabbed Mad Max:Fury Road ($6), X-Men: Days of Future Past- Rogue Cut ($4). Batman V Superman: Ultimate Edition ($9) and Captain America: Civil War ($10) all on Blu from Amazon. Civil War's price keeps changing but I'm happy with my purchase.

Braved the sparse crowds (except for Best Buy, always lacking in checkout registers) on Black Thursday night and picked up some BDs from the cheap seats:

Walmart:
Nada

Target (went there after leaving Walmart with nothing that interested me at their price points on Black Thursday night)
Deadpool $9
Batman vs Superman ultimate cut $9
How to Train Your Dragon 2 $6
Mad Max Fury Road $4

Best Buy: (went later Black Friday afternoon, but the crowds were still there as far as the checkout lines)
Interstellar $4
The Killing Joke $7
Howard the Duck (don't judge me!) $6
Drive $6
Midnight Special $7
Ex Machina $4
X-Men Days of Future Past - Rogue Cut $4
Sin City A Dame to Kill For $4
Live Die Repeat (Edge of Tomorrow) $4
Kung-Fu Panda $4
Kung-Fu Panda 2 $4
Captain America Civil War $8
