Some great & enjoyable movies there, also next year is the centenary of Frank Sinatra & Orson Wells. I'd think we'll get a few Sinatra movies.

Other Centenaries next year (per IMDB): Ingrid Bergman, Anthony Quinn, Arthur Miller, Alice Faye, Edith Piaf, Billie Holiday, Edmond O'Brien, Fernando Lamas...plus one who just died: Eli Wallach! One actor who turns 100 next year and is still with us is Wally Cassell (WHITE HEAT, SANDS OF IWO JIMA). Look up the rest here:

Interesting thread with many great films needing to be released on blu-ray.

Agreed but why only list 50-year-old and older titles? There are plenty of more contemporary films worth upgrading with anniversaries coming up.

Sure would be nice to finally get proper widescreen release of these two A & C films:
Abbott and Costello Meet the Keystone Kops- Charles Lamont (Abbott and Costello, Mack Sennett)

Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy- Charles Lamont (Abbott and Costello)

Especially since Meet the Keystone Cops was 2.00:1 and the DVD is missing information and most likely pan and scanned.

I'll be very surprised if Warner don't mark Goodfellas' 25th anniversary. The current Blu-Ray has a VC-1 encode and lossy audio.

It would be awesome to see His Girl Friday on Blu Ray. One of my favorite movies.

BTW, Olive put out Flame of the Barbary Coast last year.

Walt Disney's Fantasia - 75th Anniversary

I'm still holding out hope that if Disney does release a 75th anniversary edition next year, they include the general release version with the restored roadshow cut and - hopefully - make this the definitive release of the movie on home video. One can only dream, no?

150th Anniversary:

Lincoln's assassination and the end of the Civil War.

Time to break out GETTYSBURG, GODS AND GENERALS and Sam Fuller's RUN OF THE ARROW (which opens at Appomattox).
And Anthony Mann's THE TALL TARGET, which details a conspiracy by businessmen and militarists to assassinate Lincoln with multiple teams of riflemen (sound familiar?).

200th Anniversary
Publication of Jane Austen's Emma. Aren't there film versions of this?
