One less 1st round pick unsigned:
OT Levi Brown and the Cardinals agree on a 6 yr 62 million dollar contract. It's the most lucrative for an offensive lineman they say.

Calvin Johnson also signed, leaving only five unsigned first round choices.

It's surprising that he got more than Thomas, who was a higher pick (3rd vs. 5th). I guess his agent earned his commission.

In other Lions news, Detroit has placed 2nd round draft pick QB Drew Stanton on injured reserve, thereby ending his season before it ever started. Once again, the Lions blow a useful draft pick.

I don't know if he got more "real" money. The 62 million figure is rather worthless. It's all about guaranteed money.

Details of Calvin Johnson's 6 yr contract are out. 64 million total. 27.2 of it guaranteed.

Brady Quinn has now signed a 5 yr deal worth 20 million. 7.75 of it guaranteed.

    2 more left.

Not bad for the 22nd pick of the draft.

It's not as bad as the Drew Henson era [IMG]

Yes, that a bad Meshegun cheapshot [IMG]

In other news, I was going home for lunch trying to avoid the PGA traffic when I overheard Jim Rome ripping on Michael Vick. He released a statement stating he missed being around his teammates at Spring Training. [IMG]

Are you referring to the Drew Henson "Yankee" era, the Drew Henson "Cowboy" era, or the Drew Henson "Viking" era? [IMG]

Mike Alstott goes on IR for the year. Most analysts think he is done for his career.

Fullback is a dying breed anyway.

The Home Theater Forum group is now open on ESPN.com's Pigskin Pick'em. This could be the year that my dynasty comes to an end. No spread, no scores dropped. The password is OAR.

The Lions' first team lines and secondary look like they're picking up where they left off last season. I try not to cross the line from skeptical to cynical, but it could still be a while before they make the leap to second rate.

The Detroit Lions preseason curse has struck the Cincinnati backfield for a 2nd time. Rookie RB and first round pick Jeremy Irons is out for the season after suffering a knee injury in yesterday's game in Detroit. The same thing happened to 1st round pick Ki-Jana Carter in his first preseason game... in Detroit.

Actually, Irons was a second round pick for the Bengals. But it still sucks for him (and them), either way. Injuries are obviously the worst part of pre-season football. Everyone holding their collective breath, hoping they emerge unscathed and healthy to start the season.

Colts Defensive Lineman Anthony McFarland is also out of the year.

Speaking of the Colts, I saw them on TV last night in Dallas. Romo looked in Midseason form.

So he botched the hold on a kick? No, wait, that would be postseason form. [IMG]

Seriously, Dallas is my pick to represent the weak NFC in the Super Bowl this season. It pains me to pick them, since I've always been an anti-Cowboy fan. I'll save the rest of my picks for the inevitable NFL 2007 Season thread.

Caught glimpses of both the Lions/Falcons game and the Saints/Bills game.

Harrington didn't look that bad. The Saints look quite good, the Bills not so much. Trading McGahee was a dumb move.

(admin note - please carry on in the regular 2007-2008 NFL season thread. Thanks)
