Okay, 8 teams, all with a good shot of getting hot and taking home the World Series trophy. Here are the first round match-ups:

AL:

Minnesota vs. New York
Boston vs. Anaheim

NL:

Los Angeles vs. St. Louis
Houston vs. Atlanta

Who's your pick to win each series, and to win it all?

Please keep all playoff-related discussion in this thread. Thanks.

Please note: I'm a Dodger Fan

Predictions:

Minnesota over New York in 4. Pitching Rules here.
Boston over Anaheim in 5. This was a coin flip.

Houston over Atlanta in 4: Roger Clemens enough said :)
St Louis over LA in 5: Lots of close games. I don't think the Dodger pitching staff has this much left in their tanks. I could be wrong(hope).

CS:
Minnesota over Boston in 6.
Houston over St Louis in 7.

Houston over Minnesota for the title. If Jack McKleon can lead his team to a championship, so can Phil Garner

This are my out of left field picks.

You mean the Rockies didn't make it to the playoffs??????

Well, my picks:
Minnesota over NY in 4
Boston over Anaheim in 5

Houston over ATL in 5
St Louis over LA in 4

Boston over Minnesota in 7
St Louis over Houston in 4

St Louis over Boston in 7 (St Louis will win on some fluky play in extra innings thus re-confirming the curse for another year)

St. Louis over L.A. in 5

Anaheim over New York in 6
St. Louis over Atlanta in 7

Anaheim over St. Louis in 6.

Good article on ESPN.com today about Red Sox history; please read this before making any dumbass "Curse" comments.

Predictions:

New York over Minnesota in 4
Boston over Anaheim in 4 (although a Sox playoff series that doesn't go the maximum seems wrong)

St. Louis over Los Angeles in 4
Atlanta over Houston in 5

Boston over New York in 7
St. Louis over Atlanta in 6

The World Series goes seven games, ending on Halloween, but I won't begin to guess how.

I'm going to be a homer here:

DS:

Cards over Dodgers in 4
Braves over Astros in 5

Twins over Yankees in 5
Red Sox over Angels in 4

CS:

Braves over Cards in 7
Red Sox over Twins in 6

WS:

Braves over Red Sox in 6

(I know I'm dreaming...Vegas has the Braves with the worst odds of winning it all, like 10-1 or 12-1)

St. Louis over Houston in 6

To bad we have to endure watching the Yankees every night on TV. Can't they please show another matchup instead of the Yanks every year! I realize they are the largest market, but I would much rather watch any of the other three series in the first round.

Remember, this is Baseball, the Playoffs, and the Red Sox. Nothing is more serious for fans of the Olde Towne Team. I suggest you tread lightly and be afraid...be very afraid. :D

Now here is what I would like to see.

Atlanta over Houston in three.

Boston over Anaheim

New York over Minnesota (Besides Angles and Twins fans who doesn't want to see a Yankees vs Sox ALCS?)

LA over St. Louis

It would mean this thread is 1/2 as large as last year's if the Sox don't face the Yanks in the ALCS. Something about the greatest rivalry in sports that gets the juices going. Must say it was usually good natured in here with just a few personal attacks last year. Let's try to up the ante this year. Good luck to all (except Yankee fans, may you all burn in hell :D ).

I take no position on the Curse, but judging from a recent Pedro Martinez interview (after losing to the Yankees), the Sox are totally psyched out already. The Yankees starting pitching is in pretty bad shape right now, so it's hard to pick them, but the winner won't be the Sox.

You know for personal reasons, if I had it my way it would be Atlanta over Minnesota in the world series.

I'm a Braves fan, my dad is a Twins fan...in fact we share no common teams so I always hope mine can beat his when it counts.

1991 must be avenged.

Of the early games and I've watched neither up to this point, but I can't say I'm surprised by the way they've gone.

Here we go:

Yanks/Twins: Yanks in 4 (sucks because I have tickets to game 5)
Sox/Angels: Angels in 5

Braves/Astros: Braves in 5
Cardinals/Dodgers: Cards in 3

Yanks/Angels: Yanks in 7
Cards/Braves: Cards in 6 (sorry Casey)

Yanks/Cards: Yanks in 5

That's how I see's it, best of luck to all..... Go Yanks!
