I agree with those who feel Azkaban won't be $300 million +. Why would it be? The first one made $317 million and had the advantage of the curiosity factor: lots of people knew of the Potter hype and were intrigued to see what it was all about. They went, they saw, they didn't like, so the first sequel took a hit and made $261 million. The next sequel's going to all of a sudden add tons to the gross of Chamber? I don't see that - why would legions of people who didn't go to Chamber come out for Azkaban?
The LOTR films built an audience on home video - that's why each one made more than the last (assuming ROTK eventually passes Two Towers). I don't think that's happened with Potter. I feel the potential audience has DWINDLED with each film - they've not endeared themselves to many who didn't already like the books. Azkaban might get a boost from its summertime release and roughly equal Chamber, but that's it. I can't believe it'll hit $300 million, much less the $400 million some predict...
