Hi Jon - I'm actually looking to spend the same amount on a DLP of the same size (although I'm not looking to buy for about another one to two months). I recently re-located to the Bay Area and went into a store called Anderson's. They had a bunch of 52" Mits DLP's on display for $1,997.00. They also had an open box of the same model with a slight dent in the front of the cabinet (noticable, but hardly a big deal). I'd likely go with that model if they cut me a deal. Other than that, the best 50" DLP's for the money that I've seen are the Samsung and the 52" Toshiba (currently at Best Buy for $1,999.00). In addition, I do find the 50" (52"?) Hitachi LCD at Circuit City nice as well. I'm curious regarding the input of other forum members to this same question.........

I'm actually seeing a fair number of Samsung DLP's (HLR and HLP) online for $1300-$1700. They seem to be well regarded, and would appreciate any additional info on these, or of course other suggestions.
