I did the same thing (Access dB), but I didn't start entering running times till a few years ago so I missed Giant (I have the Canadian release from a few years ago). I need to go back and rectify the missing rt's but there are just so many and I'm lazy. :)

LOL. Agreed.

I have looked at the posts here, and of the movies and mini series' listed, not one of them is a bad one. Is it true that the longer the film, the better it is, generally speaking? Not including Titanic, of course.

Also, it would appear that a vast majority of the longer films ever made are not made in Hollywood? maybe that lack of pressure helps a film's success?

personally, i enjoy a long film if it draws you in and makes you unaware of the time you spend watching it.

1990 Guiness Book of World Records:

Longest Film:

The longest film ever made was the 85-hour {The Cure for Insomnia} in
1987. It was directed by John Henry Timmis IV and premiered in its
entirety at the School of Art Institute, Chicago, on Jan 31, 1987.

Jacques Rivette's Out One runs about 12 hours.

HEIMAT, which runs 15 hours 40 minutes, has also been shown theatrically,
but over two days

I'd have to agree about the original Solaris. It is indeed about as much fun to watch as grass growing, paint drying, etc. Yet I watched it all anyway. It took me a couple of evenings though, I just couldn't take it all in one sitting.

I believe the film version of McTeague was over 10 hours long but the majority of the film has been lost since its creation.
