Hi everybody! :)
I'm trying to decide which 20" flat screen tv to buy for myself (I'm a starving student) and I think I've narrowed it down to either the Toshiba 20AF42 or the Sony KV-20FS100. Here's the difference that matters: The Toshiba has s-video in, and the Sony has component. The Toshiba would cost me $235, while I can get the Sony for $220 (open box special at Best Buy). The picture on both sets looks fantastic to me.

My main sources will be my PC for DVDs and my game consoles. My vid card has s-video out (with an adapter for RCA), which makes the Toshiba a lot more convenient for me, since if I get the Sony I will be stuck using RCA until I get a stand-alone dvd player. Also, unless I find a good deal, I won't be buying expensive cables for a while. Which would you get, and why? Feel free to recommend another set if you don't like either of those.

i got the samsung 20" flat screen (sorry i can't remember the item number) but it has component video, s-vid, a front imput (with headphone) and 16x9 squeeze. Dvd's look great on it, and i recommend it. I got mine as a display model, and it was only like $250 or so... but that was over a year ago... games look great, dvd's look great... and as for geometrey problems... i don't notice any major... there may be a little bit here or there, but not noticable to me... but that's the problem to most flat screens (it seems), and as for cables, get the best you can afford after you get the tv, cause later on down the road you would regret not getting the slightly higher cables (rather than something like Kmart brand...) hope that helps... Thanks for your reply. I know the Samsung is a great deal, but I haven't found a local store that has it yet. Tech Depot has it for about $190 shipped, but 1) I'd like to see it in person , and 2) if I got a lemon I would not be able to exchange it. I will check up on it more, though.

Edit: About the cables, I'm sure not gonna buy Kmart brand! I will probably get Monster or something a little bit less, but I won't be getting Silver Serpents any time soon.

Bartholomew, the toshiba 20af42 has the component inputs and is definitely the 20" set to get. Believe me, you will not be disappointed. Check the other posts for the other brands listed in the 20" size and compare the problems associated with those other brands. Good luck!
