You have lots of choices here. I can vouch for the Parasound amps and the ATI 1502 both of which can be found for less than $500.

Yeah a while ago I saw used Parasound HCA-1000As going for $300.

You could also get a pre-owned Rotel 2 channel amp for cheap off ebay.
