Hi to All Great Professors of audio knowledge who are so kind as to share with us their wisdom and secrets. I have just recently discover internet radio and my life have changed. I am diving into the music again with more joy than ever before so I have decided to treat myself with good quality equipment so I can enjoy "The Sound of Music" to the fullest before do to my aging I will lose the hearing and wear speaker right inside my ear. So for the past month I am reading a lot, trying desperately to upgrade my knowledge, so when I will finish my house audio project, I will have all set up "idiot proof" and working without damaging any of the components. Of course I know that I am just beginner with a quality of set-up but I am not here to compete with anyone, and have my limited budget for all this. So I am trying first time in my life set up my speakers in Bi-Amp mode which should be - according to other audio enthusiasts - fantastic improvement in sound quality without declaring bankruptcy by purchasing very expensive speakers. Bi-Amp should be for me like a Audio-Viagra so I can not wait to get it set up. I always like to listen to music in stereo but always with not 1 set of speakers, but 2. I can not explain why. Just have the feeling that I get more excitement just like taking two girls not one in bed. Sorry for that comment, but I have to support my 4 speakers theory the best I can. I have already graduated to second grade of audio knowledge, thanks to you guys, when in the process of reading some more professional Karl's comments almost frying my brain and learning that my health plan does not support impedance matching for my left and right parts of my brain??? Now what I am trying to do is to set up in my house 8 or 9 pairs of speakers 8 ohms each with 3 pairs of B&W Bi-Amp. I have two old Onkyo Super Servo Integrated Stereo Amplifiers A-8015 & A-8067 55W at 8 ohms and 75W at 8 ohms which will be connected to each other by RCA Tape Out to Tape In. Both Amps have double A & B speakers connectors and A & B speakers selectors and thanks to your gentlemen opinions I have already acquired two Autoformer Based, Impedance Matching Speakers Selectors Russound PRO-6 HP with speakers pairs impedance selector & SDB 6.1 with impedance of autoformers factory set at 8X. Each selector can accept 6 pairs of speakers and each having two amps inputs. Last thing I would like to achieve is to be able to play on all speaker pairs two different sources of music from two amps selected at will an have system idiot proof so no matter how is operated will never damage any speakers or amps. So help me GOD! So now I can post my question to You hoping for your kind replay to enlighten me on one thing I am still not sure of: Can I connect speaker wires from both amps to both speaker selectors, so each will be capable to be used as the source for Bi-Amp connection. AMP 1 speaker A output to Selector 1 amp 1 input & AMP 2 speaker A output to Selector 1 amp 2 input. And the similar for other Selector 2. AMP 1 speaker B output to Selector 2 amp 1 input & AMP 2 speaker B output to Selector 2 amp 2 input. Selector PRO-6 have one main amp 1 or amp 2 selector for all 6 speaker pairs. Selector SDB 6.1 have for each speaker pair amp 1 or amp 2 selection with VC in addition to ON-OFF. Will this work ? Without losing impedance? Without overloading? I would appreciate your kind reply. So I did some more careful reading, specially manuals of the stuff I have; and I learned that I am on the right track. I wonder when I will finally learn to read first and purchase equipment second and break away from: - "When everything fails than read instructions" - operating style. Well, I got lucky this time, since both amps with A & B speakers connectors are able to handle 4 ohms speakers. A or B connection can handle 4 ohms speakers one pair at the time, A & B together need 8 ohms speakers with both pairs working at the same time. Since both Russound Speaker Selectors (listed in my first post) can handle 4 ohms speakers and 4 ohms amps I can connect all as I have described in my first post. There is nothing that feels better than answering your own question and that is called learning and now I can make myself a cup of good coffee and sing "I can see clear now"! So I got lucky this time since I purchased a real good selectors with top of the line capabilities. I would still appreciate someone who know all this to confirm my findings, so I would not set up all wrong and even more important lead anybody else in the wrong direction. Regards to all Jan
