Does anyone know if all 3 seasons of the 1960s Batman TV show with Adam West and Burt Ward will ever be released on DVD?

I know Fox wants to do it, but rights are hell

Batman is now owned by Warner, who of course will want much dinero. I think a lo of it hinges on how well the movie did

According to the imdb, the movie got a 5.7/9 Nielsen. So what's the deal with rights? Fox owns the show and WB owns Batman?

Jeff is right....

Fox desperately wants to put the 60s BATMAN
out on DVD. In fact, that was one of their
inital choices of TV product release if I
remember correctly.

There are rights issues holding that release up.

If Fox could have gotten this out already you
better believe they would have.

Well, I meant the 60s theatrical movie that was released on DVD last year :)

But I'm sure they were watching the numbers on Return to the Batcave (which if you're reading Fox is already on Jeff's DVD list no matter how much he hates the 60s show, the RTTB was fantastic)

I hope RTTB means nothing. After all, nothing is like the old 60's Batman!

Let's get it out Fox!! Good news from Ron, at least as far as intentions and hopes go.

Hopefully the complete run of 120 episodes will be available on DVD at some point. I taped them back in the eighties and they are chopped up from sindication plus the visual quality is not great.

I'd like to get the 60s Spider-Man cartoons on DVD as well.

They're coming, but they will be altering the soundtracks to the episodes.
I think you are thinking of an Australian TV-broadcast thing that will not be released to DVD initially in Oz, and certainly never in R1 in that form since Disney - which now owns Saban, who bought the Marvel cartoons a few years back - is not participating in that "restoration".

Right now Disney's plan on the 60's cartoons is as you've seen: use them as "bonus episodes" on the releases of cartoon eps from the 80's-90's. Disney does NOT feel that the "old" stuff has a sufficient audience to warrant a separate release.

I disagree, but there you have it.

Down the road you may see Disney barter for the ability to use the restored video, and hook it up with the original audio. Down the road.
