The German 1900 DVD has region code 2 and 4, so I guess it will be the same as the upcoming Australian release. The picture quality is indeed soft and a bit out-of-focus, but at least the DVD has the original italian dub, the english dub and english subtitles. This DVD edition has been rerated in Germany since the movie(s) are avaiable uncut for the first time (including the scene with the prostitute and the killing of the young boy). Because of this rerating (which is equivalent to the american NC17-Rating) the DVD is not avaiable via online retailers.
Does anybody of you know if Sutherland, De Niro and Lancaster (and maybe even Depardieu) did their own english dubbing? If so, it seems to have been dubbed before it was shortened for the first american release...
Interestingly , the PAL R4 version listed here only has a running time of 262 mins not the 306mins listed on the dvd-palace link , surely too much shorter to be just PAL speedup ?
