I'm in the market for a 17" 4:3 LCD TV. I've done some searching here but most people are getting the widescreen versions.

Since most of my viewing will be regular TV, I don't feel like dealing with the black bars or stretching and deforming the image, therefore, I'd like to stick with a 4:3 ratio.

"HD ready" is a plus but not required. Budget is $1000.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Has to be a 17"????

Heck we have been getting Samsung 213T 21.3" monitors here at work at the sub $800 level. We had to crack down on DVD ROM drive use, because movies look so dang good on them. :)

Yes John. I'm putting the TV on a glass shelf that I have mounted to a wall and a 20" is kind of big for the shelf and the wall (narrow wall).

17" is just the perfect size in my situation.

Thanks.
