The subject line says it all! Has anyone else heard this little rumor on Artisan's "Ultimate" version of "Stargate" due out in February 2003?

it's not a rumor. It's been finished for months and supposedly they decided that the market was too crowded for Xmas

I would hope so, the current release does look pretty pathetic. It also has the most EE I've ever seen on a transfer (never saw Die Hard 3 [IMG] ). I'm glad to hear this title now has a definate release date; wasn't it supposed to come out 10/22/02? What happened with this? Why the delay?

I would really like to get this. I currently only have the freebie Stargate release. I need to own a nice edition to go along with my SG-1 sets. It does remain important to the series after all.

It does have DTS from what I've heard. Whether or not it's 6.1 discrete remains to be seen

I think it's safe to say they'll give it a nice anamorphic transfer (I can't imagine that they would bother to re-re-release this without doing the transfer right). DTS would seem likely. 6.1? Maybe...

If you go to Mi Casa Multimedia's web site they list this as one film soundtrack they recently were contracted by Artisan to remaster. Mi Casa does some pretty kick ass DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 remixes too (The Fellowship of the Ring, Blade 2, etc.).

    It's not far fetched.

P.S. Their headquarters is in Bela Legosi's former residence. Cool! They had an article about Mi Casa in the last issue of Audio Video Interiors. They even remix the 2.0 back up tracks using Lexicon's Logic7 format!

Yes, the old Stargate was the most undesireable (looks) film that I have had on my player due to the vast edge enhancement. So Feb 2003? Do we have a date in that month yet?

Wow, this is great news. Stardate Directors Cut was one of the first ever DVDs I bought. I actually havent watched it in over 2 years and have contemplated throwing it in, but I keep holding out until the SE comes!!

16x9 and DTS glory, here I come!!

These are the specs that I have seen so far. No mention whatsoever about DTS.

    2-Disc Set

Newly remastered anamorphic transfers of both theatrical cut and director's cut.

    Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.

Audio commentary with director Roland Emmerich and producer Devlin(probably the same that was on the other special edition of Stargate).

    Making-of featurette.

"Is There a Stargate?" featurette w/ Chariots of the Gods author Erich von Daniken.

    Trailers.

It sounds like its identical to the rereleased Directors Cut R2 version which I have. Except the R2 disc only has the new version not both. Although it does look excellent (strong levels of detail etc) the "old" footage that was reincorporated looks significantly inferior and stands out too much. Maybe Artisan have done something to change this. If it is the same I think you will be very happy when you get this DVD I know I was.
