I am going to upgrade my tv to a samsung 120hz 52''. My question is, if I continue to run hdmi from my blu-ray player into my receiver (onkyo tx-sr605), and then the receiver to the tv, will I be fully taking advantage of the 120hz processing? Or should I skip the receiver and go straight to the back of the tv with an optical cable for digital sound? I was not sure if the receiver can put this signal through, or if it is just a pass through. I don't want to spend money for a new technology and not take advantage of it!

Running the HDMI through the receiver will do nothing to degrade the video signal and you will be able to get HD audio, which is impossible via optical. HDMI to the reciever and then from receiver to the TV would be the preferred setup, by far.
