Thanks. Yes, I knew it was Bobby's birthday as well. I didn't actually figure it out until I started reading up on the Nightfall of Diamonds release (recorded 10/16/1989).

Well I got a Panasonic RA60 today. DVD-Audio is wonderful. I listened to some of the stereo and multi-channel tracks on American Beauty, it was everything I hoped it would be. I love how the whole thing sounds. The multi-channel sound is magnificent, it really gives you a sense of being there, and is not the least bit gimmicky. The sound is so rich and full, I'm completely in love with this format now.
While I didn't do an A/B comparison today of the DD and DVD-Audio, my impression is that the difference is huge. I wasn't totally satisfied with the DD tracks, I felt it lacking, and didn't sound to natural overall. The DVD-Audio is great, and I enjoy just sitting there and listening to it. I don't find myself distracted by the multi-channel aspect at all. Also, I think there's more separation in the DVD-Audio tracks, which just make it sound that much better.
