I have $1000 to spend on a reciever or Amp and Pre/Pro.
Only requirement is that it can't be HUMOUNGUS and needs to be able to drive 4ohm load comfortably, if not terribly loudly.
options:
HK AVR510 - The 7000 just won't fit in my cabinet. -$700 option
HK Sig 2.0/2.1 Pre/Pro/Amp. Can be found refurbished for $999
Denon 3802 - 920 from SoundPros
Sony 777es - Used goes for about 800
Sherwood something or another.
I am leaning toward the HK Pre/Pro/Amp.
I'd like TWo 5.1 inputs, but can live with one set.
This will be replacing my HK AVR75, which I love, but has no DTS or 5.1 inputs.
Any opinions?

I don't know about OHM loads, but my Yamaha RXV1000 cost me about $1000.00, less now.

More music - 7200.
More HT - 3802.

Have you considered auditioning the Outlaw 1050? Seems like an awfully good deal, having received a lot of good reviews.

The ones for sale at JandR are factory refurbs with a full factory waranty. Ive had the 2.0 for a few weeks and I am pleased silly with its performance. When I recieved the unit Via UPS it had this big scarry sticker on the front that said " Due to phisical apearance this unit is not to be sold as new". I thought oh boy this thing is gonna look like it fell of a 10 foot shelf. To my surprise the unit seemed to have no damage. It wasent untill a few days after that I noticed a scratch running from top to bottom on the display screen that must have occured when it was assembled since it ends on both ends of the plexi glass which is flush whith the metal face. Since it was not part of the acuall display area its not a big deal to me tho. My guess is that this unit never left the factory since any unit that has been opened, scratched or not, could not legally be sold as new.
