I could really care less about picture or sound quality, since this will be used for my 2 year old daughter. The tv has coax connection only, so a RF mod will be needed.

My main concern is build quality and reliability with a cheap unit. Any suggestions? Mintek, Apex, etc...

Kevin, I understand your desire to keep this expenditure on the cheap side, but there are so many reliability issues with the under-$100 DVD players, that I feel you would be better off spending a little more on a player from one of the "big" manufacturers. Panasonic, Sony, Pioneer, and Toshiba make quality players for under $200. Check www.crutchfield.com for more information on such players.
Radio Shack sells an RF modulator of the type you need for around $30.

theres two at best buy, both made by mintek, one for $49 and one for $79. my parents are using the $79 one now, its been pretty good for how often they use it, nice little unit.

You could get the Panasonic RV-32 for just a little over $100 (maybe even $100 if you shop around). It may not be as cheap as the others but it'll probably last a lot longer.
