I may purchase an NAD 2400 stereo amplifier for $400.00 Canadian with NO TAX to use for external amplification with a Marantz SR 6200 receiver. What sort of sound quality does this puppy have? Its 100 watts x2 into 8 ohms.
Its pretty old and used, but its specs were pretty good for its day and even now. Any experience with this amplifier? Is it worth it? Should I pay another $300.00 for an NAD C270? It'll cost me almost twice as much.

What's the conversion to US$ ? I paid $250 USD for a used NAD 2400THX about 4 years ago. I currently use it as a sub amp, but have run it full range and it's excellent either way.
The rated continuous power is 100 wpc/8, 150 wpc/4. SGHT reviewed it many moons ago and got short term peeks in the over 300 wpc range. They thought rather highly of it's sound as well.

The conversion would be $400.00 CAD=$263.00 USD. Since its 10 years old, I was thinking about offering them $300.00 Canadian for it, which would be $197.00 USD. I think that would be worth it. I could use it for my front speakers if I want to use a crossover in between.
Either way, its probably a handy amplifier to have around. For instance, I was going to use it for the following, take the rear center pre-out and using a y-cable RCS, split the signal into the NAD stereo amp and ou to a pair of speakers, rather than a single rear center.

I have a NAD integrated amp from 1986 or 1987. It has been on almost 24x7 since I bought it in 1989 and it sounds as good today as it did then. It's only rated at 55 WPC but it walks all over the amp in my denon AVR-3300. I'd suggest saving your money on the 270 and picking up the used 2400.
As for what it's worth, I've been looking around for awhile now locally for just such an amp and would likely pay close to the $400 being asked.
