Obscure Classic TV Shows - Post Your Favorites!

I see Amazon Prime has the first three seasons of Wagon Train under the STARZ channel. I checked out the trial and compared them to my Timeless/Shout! sets. What is streaming is better. Some of the stock shots at distance can still be a bit rough (not surprising) but the parts filmed for the...

Seriously...Wagon Train has been remastered and aired on Encore Western like The Virginian? I have all the Timeless/Shout! sets from old prints. Too bad, I gave up cable 6 years ago and would have captured that one for sure as a replacement if it had been done back then.

I've watched all of Lawless years twice now. I know I will be revisiting it again someday down the road. So by locating the set did you go back the the early season 1 episodes with the strong golden sepia look?

Thanks. Other then a few equipment upgrades and a lot more shelves in an adjacent room, it hasn't changed much in the last 18 years.

Totally understand. When I built my dedicated room back in 2004 I decided to use the walls in the closet where I store the equipment as shelving. I went with seven rows built with DVD height and depth in mind. It totaled 42' length of space. I thought this will last me forever. A few years later...

Same disk capacity, same old DVD compression techniques. My guess is that it is: 1) related to the quality of the source elements and the fact these were shot on film. I find that compression has a greater impact on lower quality elements than higher quality elements. Shot on video is impacted...

Interesting seeing that you just added the Mod Squad. While I figured it would have already been added, I came with the intent of adding it if not. I purchased the original VEI (39 disk) set back in 2013. I recall checking out the pilot at the time but not going further. I'm now thinking of...

I tried the search, but unfortunately I thought if a thread was open the search was limited to the thread. I now see that their is a thread only specific option and my search was too broad. Oh well...one can never get enough Range Rider. I see Marv also listed Annie Oakley that and the Third Man...

I'll try adding one that hopefully isn't a repeat. What I like about the series is that Jock Mahoney is a stunt man by trade and Dickie Jones has been a trick rider since youth. It adds so much more when the stars can do their own thing without the need for doubles. The episode I attached is...

Interestingly, all the youtube videos you posted earlier have the sepia completely removed. I remember that the first episode of season 1 was pretty golden on the Timeless release, but in the post above the sepia has been stripped away. Here is a pic from season 2 episode 4. I don't have the...

I'll see what I can do. From what I recall, most with the sepia tone were golden, while a few were even bluish. I think it was done for effect. I've seen some other B/W shows over the years that employed a slight greenish sepia tone. When originally playing with them, I removed all sepia tone...

Regarding "The Defenders", one of my favorite episodes is "The Hundred Lives of Harry Simms". Mainly because of the performance of "Frank Gorshin". I just recently saw him in an episode on "Combat!". I don't think I've ever seen a bad performance by Mr. Gorshin. In fact, this just gave me the...

I really enjoyed "The Lawless Years". I've seen it twice now. It surprised me when it had the five-parter "Louy K". I didn't think they did such a thing back then. In the end it was basically movie length. I enjoyed it so much that I actually ended up converting it to cut back on the...
