Is I Am Cuba any good? I’ve always been interested in the Cuban Revolution and have two other Criterion releases that involve Cuba; Che and Memories of Underdevelopment.
I was thinking of an older Criterion dvd release last night and was curious if Criterion has the rights to issue a bluray for Hands Over the City? Wonderful film.
Any chance Criterion would ever do the Mosquito Coast with Harrison Ford? I’d love to have that one done properly with a lot of bonus material… I still have the old snap case DVD.
Wish we had gotten a heads up about this but I think I have most of the titles id be interested in that are or will be OOP soon. Looks like I might have to scour B&N stores for Nashville though. I assume Parallax View will stick around for awhile since it was just released.
Amazing collection. I think I'd really have to just do alphabetical with the full collection otherwise I'd go crazy trying to find a particular movie. haha
I don’t have much interest in revisiting Parasite but I’m all for other people buying it to increase the amount of more obscure titles for Criterion to release!
I didn't realize the current bluray wasn't optimal so I retract my previous statement and it's good news that Criterion will release it. I actually don't have the current Blu-ray, I've watched it on Prime (or Netflix) fairly recently and it looked okay. It'll be nice to have a lot of supplements...
Both were released by Columbia. I think Dr. Strangelove came out in January of 64 and Fail Safe in October of 64. Strangelove was based off of the novel Red Alert and Fail Safe based on the novel (what else) Fail Safe. I've read both. Apparently there was a law suit by Peter George (author of...
If it is Fail Safe, I’m extremely excited! I still have the old DVD and the made for tv remake on DVD. It would be great if the tv version was a supplement. I remember watching that live. Fonda, Hagman, Matthau, etc were great in the original film.
Now if we could get Advise and Consent soon...
Sorry if I offended Bette Davis fans. No disrepect intended, but I had posted just a few days ago a question about "Z" being released on blu. Just disappointed that's all.
Does anyone know if Criterion still has the rights to "Z" (1969)? I tried to do a search to see if this has been addressed before, but it's tough filtering a search for a film isolated to a single letter. I figured it would be easier to ask after some unsuccessful attempts at searching. I'm real...
I would have loved this as a kid, but not my cup of tea anymore. I know it'll generate a lot of sales though to support future Criterion releases so I'm all for it.
