You guys were discussing the Oklahoma dances here so I thought it would be the best place to ask as you're pretty knowledgeable about them.

Being that things have momentarily moved to Oklahoma I'd like to ask why in Kansas City in the sequence where the men are tap dancing straight on into the camera their feet are cut off. DeMille has the other dance sequences so well shot and yet she makes a major blunder here. Very strange and...

That film is quite bewildering yet it seems to have a cult following selling out its Twilight Time release. It is as unwatchable today as it was in 1973 at Loew's State in Times Square. A guilty pleasure though is watching The Things I Will Not Miss on youtube. But Pan did some very good work...

I for one would not have expected it. But I have seen digital projection of classic films and it is amazingly good. I hate admitting it.

You watch movies enough and you come across them. A good one is in the conga from Strike up the band where one of the guys slips and he recovers but if he hadn't with those long takes and so many people it would I imagine not have made Busby very happy. Also in This Heart of Mine one of the...

In the Sunday number when they are going in and out of the doors in the hallway it looks like it was done all in one take. How long did it take to rehearse and how many times did they have to start filming it over again due to a mistake? I never realized how amazing it is and nobody ever...

While a wonderful bluray it seems towards the end of the movie a number of scenes have yellowed. But I seem to be the only one to have noticed this so maybe that's how it was filmed with a yellow gel.

I have no idea what these two guys are talking about but I am very envious all the same. I'll just be watching it on a LG TV from a LG 4k disc player.

There was such a discrepancy back then in opening dates between NY and LA as I was saying about WSS. A month I would think is a fairly long time. Here it seems 5 weeks. FDS opened at Radio City as the Thanksgiving film in mid November. I believe the Warner Hollywood is long gone?

Sunday is more a fantasy production number isn't it? I don't think one would call it a ballet.

I didn't want to detest the new WSS but neither did I want to like it as I love the original film and how dare Spielberg compete with Wise and Robbins. I liked it very much to my amazement and I thought it was great that they used music not in the first film. I was pretty surprised.

There is a wonderful interview with her on youtube with the NEA. It's older than I thought. Maybe 2010? I just saw it yesterday and it is well worth your time. She was in the first opera I ever saw Le Prophete at the Met. And an especially memorable night was a recital with orchestra with...

Just as well concerning the Oklahoma ballet. I always skip it on the bluray. I far prefer the Carousel ballet. Problem with that one is the film eliminates the beautiful moment where the women have their arms around the men's necks and the men drag them oblivious to them. I thought only a woman...

And this has not 1 but two fantasy dance numbers. Not being a roadshow I'm surprised more wasn't cut but I'm glad most of it was retained. Even non roadshow musicals meant for continuous run like Gypsy and The Music Man suffered little cutting as well. None of the unfortunate get it in under two...
