It reminds me of “Motion Flow” which I’ve found always the default but at least has an easy option to turn off. I also would love to just see older films w 4K SDR without recalibrating everything but just by simply turning it off.
Sorry but to clarify you all must be talking projection here. Because on UHD HDR panels most of these HDR discs including Singing in the Rain look very tweaked/ fake ( but not all of course HDR discs do). Jewelry and water break caps, etc. never crackled like that off a screen back then- not...
I’m finding this whole thread kind of sad. Did anyone really think Paramount’s The Ten Commandments looked anything like it was originally intended and shown with those newly crackling whites, shimmering golds and tweaked up coloring book colors? That kind of presentation just wasn’t possible...
Paramount does this all the time with their blu-rays too- unsing old DVD masters and spewing out a “new” blu-ray. Look no further than the fairly recent blu-ray travesty that is Vincent Minelli’s On A Clear Day You Can See Forever. Garbage.
