This poor movie has never had a complete, definitive version. The blu rays suffer from some weird encoding problem. Almost every scene has annoying jumps that aren't caused by film damage. Once you notice it, it is impossible to ignore.
The 1938 version on blu restores the halo-like effect over several scenes, missing from the previous release. The contrast is much better, allowing that special glow to come through again.
Of every movie in my "Christmas Carol" collection, the 1999 Stewart version is my absolute least favorite. Something about the production design isn't to my liking.
