Anyone see the new Dune 3D in theaters? I just saw it in IMAX and am inclined to wait for the Blu-ray 3D from France unless it looks really good on the big screen.
While there's no true replacement for ATMOS and DTS:X, my Marantz does an admirable job with Dolby Surround and Neural:X. I really don't mind legacy 5.1 tracks as much.
Yeah, I've read your obituary for the format on more than one occasion and while you do an admirable job summarizing the demise of most recent revival, I fail to see why influential people like you don't go ahead and "organize a rally of supporters to successfully change the minds of display...
Once again, it's sad that so many will not be able to see this film in all it's stereoscopic splendor because of the needless discontinuation of 3D functionality on panels. Why wait for Avatar 2 on Blu-ray 3D on 2023? Start including it now at least on flagship panels.
Finally saw Ant Man and the Wasp last night. One of the better 3-D films we've seen in a while. My only gripe was with the film itself which I thought suffered from slow pacing at times and the usual degree of Marvel predictability. Looking forward to Jivaro next.
For those looking for demo material to "wow" friends, family or neighbors, rather than jumping through chapters of a film, I strongly recommend you pick up a copy of BEST OF 3D: The Ultimate 3D Collection [Blu-ray 3D] Showcase Demo Disc for HDTV available on eBay for a mere $16.95 or a buck less...
I'm hoping to see a 3-D Blu-ray release of MJ's Thriller because it isn't playing anywhere around me. According to Hettrick's recent review, the "3-D is solid as well, although this doesn’t exploit the medium like Jackson’s “Captain Eo” at Disneyland. Here the 3D pops the most for a few seconds...
I posted news about this some time ago and now Michael Jackson’s Thriller, restored and remastered in 3-D, is coming in IMAX no less. I hope to find a screening somewhere nearby for it's short 1 week run.

I won't be watching it until tonight, but all indications are that it is region free (like most WB titles). I can confirm that there is no region symbols anywhere. Check here too: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=306077
No news on Friday the 13th Part 3 (3-D). It is currently only available in anaglyph 3-D Blu-ray (in the standalone 2009 release, The Complete Collection (2013), and the far less expensive 8-Movie Collection Blu-ray).
Though thought of as one of the "better" examples of an anaglyph...
If you enjoyed the film and are further interested in the archeology, be sure to pick up the documentary of the same title - Pompeii 3-D. It's region free with an English audio track.
I ordered the 3-D/4K UHD steelbook combo from France and just received an email that it's on the way. I'm sure the French 3-D disk will have the same lossless DTS-HD MA 5.1 track. I wouldn't let it bother you though. That track has already received at least one good review (described as "a...
