i'm very happy with this set. this month watching Hayworth and Harlow, a slew of sparkling
technicolor blu rays , with upcoming musicals and a hammer frankenstein double
feature! also with Carl Jung- The Black Books on the way this will be a good way to end 2020!!
regarding the color films in this set-
to my eye, Down to Earth and They Came to Cordura are the same masters they used
on the dvds. they are slightly faded and there's dirt on the prints.
Tonight and Every Night, The Loves of Carmen, Salome, Fire Down Below, and Pal Joey
are brilliant...
my go-to site is dvd beaver.com---- they do side by side comparisons of a particular title, like for
example when you look up dietrich's 'the devil is a woman' both the criterion and indicator review
& screen shots come up on the same page. a real good resource. scoll down & click on...
i'm sure that eventually Cover Girl will be released again with this new transfer.
if you google 'cover girl 4k restoration' you can read articles on this restoration.
also you can youtube 'cover girl masters of cinema' to bring up the trailer to compare.
i don't have the twilight time disc...
i agree. i'm buying this set strictly for the movies that are new to blu ray. i'll keep my fingers
crossed! Sony though, without much fanfare, have been releasing some great restorations
of their Hayworth titles. Twilight Times You'll Never Get Rich was spectacular.
Indicators The Lady From...
i too have this set, i was really jazzed when i got it and wrote a rapturous review on amazon.
there was one correctable flaw, all the color films are too dark, i have to turn the brightness
on my tv up to 100- Rita's hair should read as red and not brown. i had bought all of
these films...
isn't that a beautiful high quality shot? i found online earlier this year. i almost wet my pants
when i found this shot!
also there's a lovely photo i found of Rita with Dorothy Lamour having a cig together and
looking back over at the photographer. just beautiful women.
