Oddly enough, the only dvd discs I ever came across which were consistently packed full to the brim to maximum 8.5 gigabytes, were Lionsgate's A-list movies which had extra basketcase drm. The entire iso was the maximum 8.5 gigabytes, but the actual movie was never that large.
Most of the...
The most notorious cases of this, were those Sony "Superbit" dvds released in the early/mid-2000s. The "movie only" superbit discs were never filled full to 8.5 gigabytes, in spite of dropping all the special features.
I don't know if I would want to buy a "Mill Creek" version on bluray.
Hypothetically Mill Creek would likely dump all the episodes of each season, onto one bluray disc per season.
Mill Creek is completely in the aftermarket, long after current viewers are long gone. Very different market than regular season sets released right before a new season is on the air.
The only shows Lionsgate has any confidence in via bluray, is stuff in the "walking dead" franchise.
Any other Starz/Lionsgate shows, is a complete crapshoot. Everything else non-Starz, is a vote of "no confidence".
Lionsgate probably doesn't have any confidence in a bluray version selling at all, in spite of winning many emmy awards.
One can ask how many shows which got tons of emmy awards, suddenly had a bluray release as a result?
Over the past few years, I generally assume that any new rookie shows solely produced by a canadian tv network, will never be released on dvd (or bluray).
This show was stalled even in canada. Seasons 4 and 5 were never officially released on dvd, until now.
Apparently the company (eOne) was bought up by Hasbro awhile ago, where they largely stopped releasing much of anything "new".
