Well, part of the "massive quality drop off" was due to the first two films being produced by Warner Bros., and the other two (and Supergirl) being produced by Cannon.
It is. Superman III is watchable, if you approach it as a Richard Pryor movie that happens to have Superman in it. Superman 4 is inexcusable. Even Supergirl is better.
And Sony also does a lot of terrific releases. And while Paramount has put out some questionable product, when they are on, they are on. Same with Universal.
