Movies You Changed Your Mind About

I don't know if I'd call that a story hole. While they undoubtedly spent a fair amount of time with HAL both before and during the mission, I don't know that it would ever occur to them that HAL could read lips. I doubt that in any sort of social gathering anyone considers whether someone else...

I love The Naked City, but I must admit that I get annoyed about people holding it up as a great noir film. At best, it knocked elbows with noir on its way to being a well-made police procedural.

Makes you wonder if there any young'ns who would be surprised by the ending of "To Serve Man".

I can completely understand that feeling. However, I still find it easy to re-watch such movies because it's like eating comfort food.

Except for Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Ferris is Forever! :D The only thing I find dated about 80s films (teen comedies or not) is the Eighties Hair. Funny thing is that though I'm a child of the 60s, I find late 60s movies the most dated. (Oh, God! Did I really wear a Nehru jacket back then?)

Movies You Changed Your Mind About

I went to a midnight show of Armageddon back on its initial release. I didn't walk in with a headache, but I walked out with one. First and still only time a movie ever gave me a headache. I had wondered if my (extremely) negative reaction to the movie was because of of the growing headache, but...

A nephew of mine (an adult nephew) had a similar reaction to it, and wondered why I thought it was brilliant. I said that there are movies that are better directed than CK, movies that are better written than CK, movies that are better edited than CK, movies that are better photographed than CK...

Movies You Changed Your Mind About

I have two to mention, going in opposite directions. (1) My first Bergman film was Cries and Whispers back during its initial US run. I was 19 or thereabouts at the time. Couldn't for the life of me figure out what the fuss was all about. Put me off Bergman until seeing Woody Allen's A...
